PHILJEC Attends the 13th Asian Business Summit in Tokyo

On July 5, 2024, business leaders from 13 Asian economies convened at the 13th Asian Business Summit, hosted by Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), at the Keidanren Kaikan in Tokyo. The annual summit serves as a high-level forum for regional cooperation and private sector collaboration across Asia.

The Philippines-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee (PHILJEC) was represented by Chairman Richard Albert I. Osmond, Co-Chairman Ferdinand A. Ferrer, and Secretary-General Philip B. Sanvictores.

This year’s summit focused on four key themes critical to the region’s sustainable growth:

  • Innovation
  • Free and Fair Trade/Investment
  • Carbon Neutrality
  • Digital Transformation

Chairman Osmond presented an overview of the Philippine economy and its growth prospects, while Co-Chairman Ferrer presented a paper on the global deployment of Filipino talent and skilled migrant workers.

A Joint Statement reflecting the summit’s shared vision was formally presented to Japan’s Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio by Keidanren Chairman TOKURA Masakazu.

In a ceremonial handover at the close of the plenary sessions, PHILJEC was announced as the official host of the 14th Asian Business Summit. Prime Minister Kishida delivered closing remarks, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to a sustainable, digitally empowered, and cooperative Asia.
