PJLA gathers to celebrate April, May and June birthdays of members, glass painting, and singing

PJLA deepens heartfelt bond through art, song, and the celebration of life.

Last June 18, 2026, the Philippine Japan Ladies Association (PJLA) gathered in the Philippines-Japan Friendship Center in Makati city for an afternoon of joint-birthday celebrations, glass painting, and singing.

The get-together opened with prayers for the celebrants and a joint cake-blowing. Afterwards, the members of the association painted on their respective glass cups and while telling each other the stories behind their chosen designs. Among these designs were the Filipino names of family members’ in Kanji characters, intricately-drawn flowers, and tiny bright music notes—colorful reflections of what the PJLA members hold dear. Before the event closed, both the Filipino and Japanese members of the association sang Filipino chorale classics in the lead of Mrs. Erny Jocson.

The get-together highlighted the beautiful connection between two different cultures built on shared values, interests, and experiences that shape the everyday lives of the association’s members.
